Washington DC – American Vice President Kamala Harris, who may end up the first woman elected as president of the United States, ignored a slavery case involving the Saudi ruling family and a black woman, when she served as California attorney general.

Harris’ claim to fame has been her experience as a prosecutor and California attorney general. She touts “her prosecution of harden criminals” and she repeats in her many interviews and election rallies.

These claims are challenged by the case of a black woman, whose identity has been kept secret until now. The maid who worked for the nephew of King Salman AlSaud, ran away from the California mansion owned by Abdulrahman Bin Naser AlSaud, a first cousin to Saudi strongman and de facto ruler, Mohamed Bin Salman, aka MBS.

Special Treatment
The maid fled to the street and asked for help from passersby and Orange County police who stormed the Saudi mansion and made an arrest after the maid told them of the abuses. OC police did not arrest the actual employer of the maid but his wife. The Kenyan maid and other maids from the Philippines, worked for the husband who holds a Saudi royal title. Abdulrahman bin Naser holds a title of “His Royal Highness”, indicating his direct linage to the founder of Saudi Monarchy, King AbdulAziz, King Salman’s father. Saudi ruling family’s constitutions limits the ruling the country to the descents of King AbdulAziz. Abdulrahman who served as a governor has since died.

The arrest generated widespread media coverage across California and the world but Harris, then the outspoken state attorney general laid low and remained tightlipped about the case even after the Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas issued a stern statement “The laws of our nation and California do not tolerate people who deprive or violate the liberty of another and obtain forced labor or services,” he said.

Behind the Scenes
Rackauckas abruptly dismissed the case in September after claiming lack of sufficient evidence. The case however may have been dismissed for very different reasons. While this is not the first time members of the Saudi ruling family were accused of human trafficking, the arrest of Mishale Mohamed AlAyban, was the first where a member of the Saudi ruling clan was booked, cuffed and thrown behind bars. The sight of a leading Saudi monarchist’s wife in prison suit was followed closely even though the Saudi press empire blacked out the story.

Harris didn’t only ignore the case but played a role in making the case go away. While Rackauckas was elected by OC’s residents and answered to no one, he was still under Harris’ oversight and influence. Harris and Rackauckas crossed paths when it was revealed that Rackauckas’ office was using jailhouse informants to obtain confessions and held it from defense lawyers.

Rackauckas’ reputation was one of scandal and question marks. ACLU attorney Brendan Hamme described in 2018 by as “one of the most scandal-ridden and criticized government figures in California.”

The sudden dismissal of the case 10 weeks after the arrest did not make sense, and this may be why the case literally went away.

This reporter witnessed a phone call between an Obama national security official and the State Department Saudi Desk officer Tanya Spencer discussing the case days before the case against AlAyban was dismissed. The call mentioned the justice department role in dismissing the case.

Obama’s DOJ Eric Holder who is linked to the Saudi government before and during his tenure and his record shows his friendly stance with the Saudi ruling family. He is also a friend of Harris and one of her political surrogates.

The call pointed to how the human trafficking case was thrown. The White House asked the Justice Department to make the case go away. The State Department task is to assure the Saudis things will be fine. Later Holder asked Harris to deal with it. Spencer, now retired, clearly attempted to hide the nature of the call but slipped and named Harris and the Justice Department “coordinating it”. It was clear the call was about the arrest of AlAyban and how to make it go away, especially for a person with knowledge of the ongoing case.

Harris with her influence over Rackauckas made the case go away. Harris was holding an American officials’ tradition ignoring US laws and letting the Saudi ruling clan and other American-backed ruling families to escape American justice, even if it involved enslaving a Black woman.

Harris rewarded Rackauckas by letting him of the hook for that jailhouse snitch and police shootings scandals by launching a gutted inquiry but Rackauckas still lost his reelection bid in 2018. He declined to comment on the case in spite of numerous calls and emails. The Harris campaign also refused to answer questions on the matter. The case records have been expunged according to a lawyer we hired to recover the case records.

Ahmed Mekhemar, the Arabic translator in the case also refused to answer questions.

While AlAyban is not herself a member of the ruling AlSauds, she hails from a prominent family with close ties to the ruling monarchy. Her brother is the current Saudi national security advisor Mosaad Mohammad AlAyban, a Harvard law graduate and the man who negotiated the rapprochement with Iran behind Biden administration’s back in China in March of last year. His father Mohamed Abdullah AlAyban was the founder of Saudi intelligence first head until his death in 1977.
