On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the Institute for Gulf Affairs hosted a webinar discussing the UN-brokered two-month truce in Yemen. Speaking at the event were Dr. Shireen Al-Adeimi, a Yemeni American assistant professor of education at Michigan State University; Dr. Annelle Sheline, a research fellow in the Middle East Program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft; Shuhaib Almosawa, a Yemeni journalist based in Sana’a, Yemen; and Ali Al-Ahmed, the founder and director of the Institute for Gulf Affairs. The panelists – who are all journalists, activists, and scholars from Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and the United States – discussed their different perspectives on the truce in Yemen, the formation of the presidential leadership council, and the possibility of peace between the warring parties and an end to the current humanitarian crisis.
